Let's continue building toward optimizing your fertilizer investment:
CALCULATING ADDED FERTILIZER COSTS DUE TO LOSS OF PRODUCT
When containers tip over and you lose fertilizer, you lose money through replacement material and reapplication costs.
Let's find out exactly how much it's costing you.
Take Note: To assist you in calculating the estimated labor cost to reapply fertilizer, an average labor rate of $0.02 per container is common. If you know your actual labor cost, you can edit the pre-populated field.

That's small change compared to how Osmocote w/ Fusion reduces profit loss from degraded plant quality.
ESTIMATING PROFIT LOSS RESULTING FROM DEGRADED PLANT QUALITY
If spilled fertilizer is not replaced, the loss of nutrition will cause plant quality to diminish by a certain percentage. Scotts® Osmocote® with Fusion Technology™ maintains a consistently higher level of plant quality because more of what you purchase stays in the pot.
First, estimate the value for each plant grade. We've already plugged in the average market grade values. You can change the numbers to reflect your market values.
Take Note: How much fertilizer is spilled from each pot will ultimately determine the degree of quality degradation. To illustrate its dramatic affect on revenue, we have used this scenario: Your acre of production as calculated in Step 1 lost 15% of surfaced applied fertilizer, reducing 10% of your crop to 2nd Grade Quality and 5% of your crop to Cull Grade Quality.
